Our Mission

The Sistah Soul Nutrition Program mission is to promote the health and wellness of African American women through a virtual supportive community that encourages transformative behaviors that leads to better health.

Our vision is to decrease the chronic disease rates of African American women by offering resources leading to 1) a healthy lifestyle, 2) habits that lower or eliminate the need for prescription medicines, and 3) emotional well-being

OVERVIEW

As a community, African American women experience a higher rate of diseases as compared to women of other races. The Sistah Soul Nutrition Program is a 12-week journey towards better health and wellness aimed at women of color. Developed based on the successful The Girlfriend Getaway: Sistahs At The Well Retreat, this wholistic program’s goal is to provide the necessary tools to:

Jacqueline Glass,
The Founder’s Journey

In 2010, I was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and hypothyroidism. The doctor prescribed medication for each condition and told me she would see me in three months. My goal was to eliminate the medicines due to their harmful side effects and take control of my health.

I enrolled in a local nutrition-based program focused on plant-based eating, exercise, and small group support sessions. In the first month, I lost 17 pounds and continued to alter my food choices through plant-based eating and increased daily movement. The result was adapting to a new way of thinking about food, attaining my ideal weight, and eliminating all prescription-based medications.

My results inspired me to create programming that improves African American women’s overall health. The goal is to teach women HOW to make THE exact lifestyle changes that lead to better nutrition and wellness. We are our sister’s keeper, and our virtual program will offer an accountability community for women motivated to work on their health.
